Top Ten Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List

Another week another top ten list. This meme is as always hosted by the Broke and the BookishThis week of Top Ten Tuesday the topic is top ten books at the top of my summer TBR list. I have interpreted that as books I am planning to read this summer. It is summer now, so I’ve read some of them.

Fractured by Teri Terry – I read Slated earlier this year, and it was awesome. It’s so cool, and I am so looking forward to the second book. Slated is about Kyla who has had her memory wiped for unknown reasons. She is supposedly some sort of criminal. She doesn’t remember anything, but throughout the book she starts to learn more and more about herself and the world. In Fractured I imagine there will be more remembering, more creepy secrets and things. I’m very excited. (Edit: I’ve read it now, it’s bloody brilliant)

Lord of the Flies by William Golding – I feel like there are references to this book all over and I’m missing out because I haven’t read the book. And I have read it now, and I’m freaking out. It was really creepy.

DUFF by Kody Keplinger – I follow Misty the Bookrat, who is a blogger and booktuber. She’s very cool, has given me (not personally, but I like to think she is my friend, aaaand I sound insane) some very good booktips, so that’s good. She’s been very excited about this book, so I’m very excited, it sounds cool. It’s about a girl named Bianca who enters into an enemies-with-benefits relationship with a guy she hates, Wesley. And then suddenly she realizes she might be a little in love with him.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – Again Misty the Bookrat tipped me about this one. I now look like a stalker. This is not getting any better. She made it sound brilliant. Black handprints are appearing all over the world, scorched there by some sort of winged creature. I don’t know why, but I really, really like angel mythology. I have no idea why. I’m not religious, but I really like reading mythology and religion, and angels are awesome. His Dark Materials, Kushiel’s Dart, Neverwhere, Castiel from Supernatural, I just like them. And even whiffs of angels makes me actively excited. Also there is an art student with blue hair who speaks weird languages. Just writing this makes me sort of excited.

Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead – I really liked the first Vampire Academy book. I quite like vampires, but they are getting tired. Richelle Mead’s voice though, was kind of enough to make them awesome again. Then I found out Mead writes about a succubus, awesome. I wanna read it. I like mythological creatures. I like that people write about creatures that aren’t vampires, something new, something exciting.

Eternally Yours by Cate Tiernan – I want this so much, and so far I haven’t found it anywhere. It makes me so annoyed. I love the series. I feel like Tiernan is tricking me somehow. I feel like I shouldn’t like it, but I do, I love it. Nastasya is awesome. I kind of picture Reyn as some sort of mix between Alexander Skarsgård and Chris Hemsworth, which is the best thing ever.

Drink, Slay, Love by Sarah Beth Durst – Yeah, vampires right? It’s basically about a 16-year-old vampire who gets stabbed by a unicorn, which is the best sentence I’ve ever written. She finds out she can withstand the sunlight, and she has to go to school to get children to come to a vampire party, as the meal. Sadly she discovers that she is having a conscience and all these annoying feelings. So she doesn’t know what to do. It sounds awesome.

Red Velvet and Absinthe by Mitzi Szereto – We all need some steaminess in the summer. It’s a book of short stories about love and lust with otherworldly creatures. It sounds sensational. And I am also vaguely embarrassed that I want to read it.

Divergent by Veronica Roth – People keep talking about how awesome this book is, and how cool the series is. Also there’s going to be a film, so I feel like I need to read it.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman – I read Neverwhere recently and remembered how awesome Gaiman is. He is coming out with a new book this year, which is going to be brilliant. I’m very, very excited. It sounds very magic-y and cool, and I am excited as crap, so that’ll be fun.
