Top ten books I'd like to see as a movie or TV show

I haven't done any of these in a while. Which is because I'm an idiot. Here is another Top Ten Tuesday though. This week the theme is books you'd like to see as movies or TV-shows. In a perfect world where film makers don't ruin the books we love. This meme is as usual hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Off we go.

Movies

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
I know there already is one, but I would quite like them to make a new one. I have nothing against the actors, Martin Freeman is wonderful, Mos Def is a friggin’ genius, Zooey Deschanel is so cute and Sam Rockwell made me fall a little bit in love with Zaphod. I’d like to see it again though, because they change things and they swap it up, it wasn’t as good as it should have been. Also, it’s a book series, what happened to the rest of the books?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
There is supposed to be a movie made from this book, and I am really worried. The book is so beautiful and poetic and it’s so dark. And oh my God Akiva is so brooding and dark. And the things, and don’t make it all about the love story, it’s about so much more. So this is the least coherent thing ever. I just want it to be so amazing. The book is about chimera, creatures with aspects of different creatures, animals and humans in them, and if they fuck it up I will be annoyed.

Starship Titanic by Terry Jones
This is a Douglas Adams-adjacent book. It was written by Terry Jones, based on a game by Douglas Adams. It is brilliant. It’s about a group of humans who get trapped in a spaceship based on the Titanic and they’re sailed off into space. It’s hilarious. It’s so weird, and so slapstick, and it’s so Douglas Adams. It could be so much fun.

The Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship ofher own Making by Catherynne M. Valente
It’s so beautiful and so cool. It’s magnificent. I love it. And I’m worried it’ll be like the Alice in Wonderland movie, or the Golden Compass movie and they won’t make it perfect. I want it to be PERFECT!

The Hero’s Guide to Saving your Kingdom by Christopher Healy
It’s so hilarious, and so wonderful. The characters are delightful and I think it could be a really cool action comedy movie. I think they could make the princes so great and they could make it so funny.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I think that this book could just be a wonderful movie. I think it could be beautiful and cool, and odd. And that’s like perfect. Gaah, I want to see the tents and the magic performances. I want to see Bailey and Widget, and the contortionist girl, whose name I forget. It would be so amazing.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman
One of my favourite books. I think I’ll have to reread it soon. It’s so cool and it would be an interesting movie I think.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
It’s futuristic Cinderella. It would be a fucking awesome movie. Cinder is really cool, and the Prince is wonderful, and it would open up for more movies, Scarlet, Cress and Winter. It would be good okay? Good.

TV-shows
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
It’s bloody long, so it could be like a Game of Thrones thing. It could be Wheel of Time TV show. Maybe not on HBO, it’s a less sexy book series, slightly less violent. I think it’d be good though. It is one of my favourite book series and I want it to be a TV show, and I want it to be wonderful.

Kushiel’s Legacy by Jacqueline Carey
This could be on HBO, it might be too racy even for HBO. It’s too long for a movie, and there’s too much stuff happening for it to be a movie, but it could be a cool TV show. The casting would have to be perfect, but it would be friggin’ awesome.
