Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014

This Tuesday’s top ten list is top ten goals/resolutions of 2014. My list of resolutions are bookish goals and resolutions. I only have 9, but let’s go for it. The Top Ten Tuesday meme is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

I’ll try to read 70 books – Last year I set a goal of 50, which I reached easily, and I didn’t read that much, I feel, and I thought I should challenge myself, so 70. It’s about 6 books a month, which is doable

I will try to read at least 12 Norwegian books (1 a month on average) – When I got fluent in English this whole world of books opened and I could read a lot more, but it also meant I read pretty much no Norwegian books, which is sad, we have great authors, so I should read them.

I want to read at least three classics – I feel like I might have cracked the code, or gotten closer to cracking the code of reading classics. It’s a bit like reading in a different accent or learning a new language, so it takes a while, but I think I’m closer, so I want to read more.

I want to read three graphic novels – I really like graphic novels, and I don’t read a lot of them, which is sad, so I thought I’d read more graphic novels

I will read more of my own books and not buy as many fucking books – I haven’t counted, but I’m pretty sure the amount of books I have that are unread is either equal to, or higher than the amount of books I own that I have read. That’s a bad sentence, but you know. I need to change that.

I will try to read 24 books I already own (Mount TBR) – Mount TBR is a challenge set by the blog My Reader’s Block. It’s aimed to get you to read books you own, but haven’t read, so I’ll try for that. 24 books is my aim, which is about 2 every month, which is fine.

I will try to read 6 non-fiction books – It works out to one every two months, which is doable. I really like history, because I’m a nerd, and I really like Norwegian history, like Vikings and stuff, and I want to learn more about them. I also have a bunch of biographies I haven’t read.

I’ll finish series/trilogies I’m not done with – I don’t know why but I have a tendency to read the first book in a series and then just stop, which is silly. So I will try to finish some of those series and trilogies.

I will keep writing – I’ll try to keep writing more focused. That looks like a horrible sentence, but I don’t know, and I’m too tired. Nanowrimo really focused me and made me write more consistently, which is good. So I’ll try to keep it going.
