The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 5th and runs through Sunday, January 11th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 12 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
The first bout of books read-a-thon is here. Yeah. It starts on January
5th and ends on the 11th and I thought, yeah, sure. I’ll
do that. Because so far I’ve been very very lazy. So I thought this might make
me get all fired up. Not that I get fired up for anything, I’m a snarky sarcasm
gnome, we don’t get fired up. I’m putting “snarky sarcasm gnome” on my resume.
Anyway. I feel like I’m going off topic.
I will hopefully have read more than I’ve read at this point before the
thing starts, but at this point the read-a-thon TBR is very ambitious. I
thought I’d be as ambitious as possible so I have a lot of choice. I chose
books that feel like quick reads, like The Hero’s Guide to being an Outlaw and
Legend, and also put in a graphic novel/comic book to mix it up to make it
easier on myself.
So this is my TBR:
- I’ll try to finish the Bone Clocks by David Mitchell, and finish Out of
Oz by Gregory Maguire.
- Legend by Marie Lu
- The Hero’s Guide to being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy
- Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
- Miss Marvel volume 1 by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Yeah, it’s a tad ambitious. I don’t imagine I’ll read all that, but I
like to have a lot to choose from so I don’t feel boxed in. And they are
different genres and different plots and stuff, which I think helps.
I’ll try to do updates as the week goes along, I guess, and on the 12th
I’ll try to do a wrap-up thing. So that’ll be fun for me, and hopefully you,
dear reader. What am I doing? It might be interesting to know, or not, that the
way I write is also how I speak. I actually speak this way, I don’t know why
anyone actually ever talks to me. On the other hand, I talk to myself a lot so I don't need others, do I? Yeah, there's the key to happiness.
So read-a-thon engage, I guess.
