#JuneTopicAThon – Participation and TBR post

So I’m a Readathon fan. I like them. And I saw this one mentioned on Mercedes’ YouTube channel, and I thought it sounded like fun. It starts tomorrow so it’s a bit impromptu and will therefore be a bit laid-back I’m guessing.

It’s called the TopicAThon and it is run by Miriam from the blog Between Lines and Life. The idea is that you choose books that focus on one topic, or that fall in under one category. So I chose Fantasy books. Because I always do when given a choice. Some of the books might be stretching it a bit, but hey. The readathon runs from Monday the 8th to Sunday the 14th.

The books I chose are mostly part of my monthly TBR anyway, so that’s nice.
-        Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding. This is classed as Fantasy/Sci-fi on Goodreads, so I’m counting it. There, world. No one cares Inga, let it go.
-        The BFG by Roald Dahl. This is a childhood favourite of mine. And it’s about giants. It’s about a girl named Sophie, who sees a giant blow a dream into a window, and he kidnaps her. I imagine it’ll be a pretty fast read.
-        The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker. It’s about a Golem and a Djinni in New Yotk. It might be a bit more magical realism, but it’s about magical creatures, so it counts.
-        The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. I bought this recently because I was grumpy and wanted to buy books. So there. I don’t know. It’s about a young woman named Kelsea who has just become queen, because she’s just turned 19. She was raised away from court after her mother was assassinated. There’s magic and intrigue, and all that. Good times.

So that’s my TBR for the JuneTopicAThon. It’ll be fun. I don’t think I’ll do daily updates, but just do a wrap-up at the end.
